Acolytes
The word "acolyte" comes from the Greek akoleuthos which means "to follow." An acolyte is a follower of Jesus Christ who assists in public worship. Our acolytes light candles and perform other services as requested by the pastors. Acolyes are in grades 3, 4, and 5. Acolytes serve at the 11:00 o'clock sanctuary service
Camps
Camps are held in the summer here at the church, at Camp Tygart (off of Cat Creek Road), and at Epworth-By-the-Sea (on St. Simons Island). Our day Camp is Tuesday through Thursday in June, July, and August and is for all children from 2 months to kindergarten. The Day Camp at Tygart is for children in K, 1, and 2 while we offer two overnight camps for children completing grades 3, 4, and 5.
Children's Church
Children's Church is a worship service geared to youthful understanding of Bible truths. It is offered in the Chapel during the 11:00 o'clock worship hour. It is designed for elementary children.
THE ROCK
THE ROCK is a high-energy Sunday school class. Come to Rockin' the Rock at 9:45 in the PURPLE ROOM upstairs for the way cool Sunday School.
Mailbox Club
We offer a free, at home Bible study for children.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a week of fun, Bible study, crafts, and music. Bible school is scheduled for June 1-5, 2009.

Preschool
(Morning Ministry)
The mission of The Preschool at First United Methodist Church, Valdosta, is to provide a quality grounded preschool education in a structured Christian environment, to give our children a Christian worldview and the necessary tools to excel and serve in today's society, while meeting their needs intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The Preschool at FUMC, Valdosta, has the role of partnering with parents in the learning process as they work together creating learning experiences with the teaching staff and the children.
We operate from Late August through May from 8:30 AM until noon, Monday - Friday. We offer classes for two and a half year olds, three year olds, and four year old pre-K! For more information, please email Kate@methodistvaldosta.org

Mother's Morning Out (MMO)
(Morning Ministry)
The mission of this ministry is to support families by providing quality care for preschool children 6 weeks to 2-1/2 and older in an atmosphere conducive for mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. This program runs Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - noon.
Childcare
Trained staff attend children in well maintained facilities providing security, warmth, and loving care during worship services, adult choir practices and other church events.
M.O.P.S.
M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers) involves a monthly fun and informative meeting the second Tuesday morning of each month, September through May. For more information, go to the local Valdosta M.O.P.S. website.
